Highlights of the tour
Experience the wonders of Morocco with The World At Her Feet in this wonderful 8 day tour highlighting three grand cities.
Hassan Mosque in Casablanca
One of the largest mosques in the world. This mosque cost over 800 million dollars. A big part of this mosque was built on the ocean, and the idea of building the mosque on water was taken from a verse in the Quran: “He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days – and His Throne was over the waters – that He might try you, which of you is best in conduct….”
Mohamed V Mausuluem in Rabat
This mausuluem contains the tombs of the Moroccan king Mohamed V and his two sons, late King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah. The building is considered a masterpiece of modern Alaouite dynasty architecture.
Hassan Tower in Rabat
It is the minaret of an incomplete mosque. The construction of the minaret and the mosque begun in 1195 and both were intended to be the largest in the world. In 1199, Sultan Yacub al-Mansour died and construction on the mosque stopped. The tower reached 44 m (140 ft), about half of its intended 86 m (260 ft) height. The rest of the mosque was also left incomplete, with only the beginnings of several walls and 200 columns being constructed.
The capital city of modern Morocco until 1925 before it was moved to Rabat. It is listed as a World Heritage Site and is believed to be one of the world’s largest urban pedestrian zones (car-free areas).
Dating back to medieval times; the tannery produced much of the city’s renowned leather. The sight of dozens of men, many waist deep in dyes, working at a trade few outside this world could see, is a sight to behold.
The city was founded by the Almoravids 1070-1072.
